The Ricci family was born in 1150; Palazzo Ricci, one of the most beautiful Renaissance palaces in the city of Polizia, was commissioned by Cardinal Giovanni Ricci in 1534 to the best architect of the time, the Sienese Baldassarre Peruzzi and was finished building in 1562. The Cantina de'Ricci was part of the palace project , however, it was built on previous medieval structures; in fact documents have been found in which it is said that it was built following the ancient rules of the statutes of Montepulciano of 1337. In 1959 at the behest of the Marquis Giulio Ricci, the winery changed its name and until today was known as "Cantina Redi".

The current owner family, Trabalzini, has chosen to go back to the origins and still remember today the Ricci family, which was one of the most representative of the country, both for what it gave to wine and to Montepulciano. “He who sows well, remains”, this was said, and this is also the truth; after so many centuries the family is still present, the palace and the cellar are in fact the daily destination of many visitors from all over the world.

Il Riccio: in Montepulciano, in the 12th century, a peaceful citizen foresaw time with such certainty that he was believed to be a sorcerer. To save himself from the accusation, the man revealed his secret: he made his predictions by observing the way a hedgehog looked at the sun. The hero then received the nickname "Hedgehog", which he passed to his descendants with his own coat of arms, where the little beast looks at the sun, evidently to understand what the weather will be.

The Nobile di Montepulciano De Ricci has a ruby ​​red color from which aromas of fresh cherry emerge, intertwining floral hints, violet in the foreground, and memories of flint with light spicy touches. In the mouth a slightly sweet attack in which the fruit predominates, then the wine finds energy in a nice acid verve that makes the sip sapid, fragrant and long, with full and crunchy tannins to bring out its articulated and dense structure.

The vinification begins with the partial pressing of the berries, placing them in steel and conical wooden vats for fermentation at a controlled temperature. Maceration of about 25/30 days with aging in tonneaux and large 20/25 Hl barrels for about 24 months, followed by at least 12 months of permanence in the bottle.
