"ALTENBERG" RIESLING VON OTHEGRAVEN 2017
The Moselle wine region is located in the west of Germany. It is an area capable of giving life to some of the most renowned and well-known white wines - produced from the riesling grape variety - appreciated by both simple enthusiasts and great connoisseurs and collectors. A terroir at extreme stretches, where the vine struggles to grow, both due to the conformation of the land, steep and steep, and due to the climatic conditions, rather cold, but which is still rich in history, so much so that viticulture was here already present before the arrival of the Romanesque populations.
Obtained using exclusively fine Riesling grapes. The vineyards are able to provide excellent quality grapes thanks to a perfect combination of soils rich in mineral salts and therefore particularly fertile and very favorable microclimatic conditions, also thanks to the temperature variations between day and night. The harvest begins only when the grapes have reached the right ripeness and is carried out by hand to select the best bunches. Fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature with a short period in contact with the yeasts. The subsequent maturation involves a passage of aging in cask and then final refinement in the bottle. Already ready today, it shows considerable aging potential.
Wine of great depth and elegance: the minerality of slate, with notes of spices, meets notes of herbs and citrus. Complex, it displays a floral finesse reminiscent of rose petals. Very subtle in fragrance, the variety of aromas continues on the palate impressively. We taste yellow fruit and this is reflected in the typical slate flavor of the soil. The wine shows a wonderful freshness, on the palate it shows a nice sweet-acid and well structured game.
