CHAMPAGNE BRUT PREMIER CRU LOUIS BROCHET
Since the 19th century, Domaine Louis Brochet has been located at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Ecueil. Here, the family's passion for vineyards and meticulous work on the terroir according to the purest expertise of Champagne has been handed down through four generations of winemakers / producers. Pinot Noir d'Ecueil is the fruit of careful selection, a completely mastered experience and meticulous work over the years, which gives the Champagne Louis Brochet finesse and character.
Domaine Louis Brochet is made up of 50 plots located in Ecueil, classified as Montagne de Reims Premier Cru, and in the neighboring terroirs. Louis Brochet champagnes are produced with grapes from these 13 hectares (33.12 acres) of vineyard. The last three plots were purchased by Hélène and Louis Brochet in 2014 and 2015. They were Jacquessonne in Branscourt, La None in Tréslon and Mont Benoit in Villers aux Noeuds, for a total of 80 ares (just over 20 acres).
The Brut significantly reflects the vines, with a strong predominance of Pinot Noir: the Montagne de Reims where the estate is located with the villages of Ecueil, Sacy and Villers aux Noeuds classified as Premier Cru; the Ardre valley with beautiful sunny hills on the Branscourt, Mery-Premecy and Treslon terroirs. All have worked in sustainable viticulture, labeled HVE3 and VDC.
For this bottling, the Brut is composed of 55% of 2017 wine, supplemented by 45% of reserve wines (of which 1/3 without malolactic fermentation), kept in thermo-regulated vats or in 300-liter oak barrels (2016, 2015 and Solera since 2010). This blend gives it its identity and constant style.
It has a golden robe, enriched with very fine bubbles. On the nose it is particularly intense, releasing a pleasant combination of notes of apple and pear, honey, vanilla and acacia. At the sip it is harmonious, giving us a sensation of lightness and fullness, concluding the long taste-olfactory trail with a memory of mint and star anise.
