FRIULANO LIVIO FELLUGA 2019
The traditional Friulian wine par excellence, with a strong personality and typicality. With a good structure, with a harmonious fruity and mineral complexity, it can reveal a characteristic aftertaste of bitter almond.
Grown mainly by Guyot, the vines of this Friulano have their roots in Ponca (flysch of Cormòns in technical terms), a soil composed of marls and sandstones of Eocene origin that have stratified under the seas over the millennia, which gives the wines flavor and unique minerality. The harvest took place during the second half of September. The healthy and perfectly ripe grapes were harvested by hand, in small boxes, to preserve the integrity of the berry. Gently de-stemmed and left to macerate for a short period, it was then gently pressed, and the must thus obtained is clarified by decantation. This was followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel containers. At the end of fermentation, the wine was kept on the lees for a few months to increase its complexity, creaminess and a vocation for aging. Once bottled, it rests in thermo-conditioned rooms for aging.
It has an intense straw yellow color with lively golden reflections. Very intense, fine and complex nose. Citrus hints of grapefruit and cedar wood alternate with balsamic and mentholated notes, to continue in a crescendo of fragrances of ginger and white pepper, which blend together with aromas of aromatic herbs such as thyme, bay leaf, rosemary and hints of scrub Mediterranean. An intriguing bitter almond accompanies the sensations of white and yellow fruit.
Complex, fresh and mineral. It is fine, soft and enveloping with an intriguing flavor integrated with a great freshness. On the whole it is harmonious, with great structure and excellent persistence. The correspondence with the olfactory notes is evident, on the palate the spiciness of ginger and the intrigue of saffron stand out, accompanied by a seductive almond finish.
Traditional as an aperitif, it goes perfectly with raw ham, salami and sausages in general; it also pleasantly accompanies fish dishes, fresh and fatty cheeses.
