CAHMPAGNE CUVEE LOUIS BROCHET "ALAIN" MILLESIME' 2014
Since the 19th century, Domaine Louis Brochet has been located at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Ecueil. Here, the family's passion for vineyards and meticulous work on the terroir according to the purest expertise of Champagne has been handed down through four generations of winemakers / producers. The Pinot Noir d'Ecueil is the fruit of careful selection, a completely mastered experience and meticulous work over the years, which gives the Champagne Louis Brochet finesse and character.
Domaine Louis Brochet is made up of 50 plots located in Ecueil, classified as Montagne de Reims Premier Cru, and in the neighboring terroirs. Louis Brochet champagnes are produced with grapes from these 13 hectares (33.12 acres) of vineyard. The last three plots were purchased by Hélène and Louis Brochet in 2014 and 2015. They were Jacquessonne in Branscourt, La None in Tréslon and Mont Benoit in Villers aux Noeuds, for a total of 80 ares (just over 20 acres).
This blend includes 2/3 of the Pinot Noir from Sacy's Les Rosets parcel and 1/3 of the Chardonnay from Ecueil's Les Vouagnes parcel. On these two Premier Cru classified terroirs, the thirty-year-old vines evolve on a clayey-limestone soil with a turf of one road out of two, where meticulous work and reasoned cultivation practices are carried out, such as plowing by electric tractor.
In this 2014 vintage, after a very dull and rainy spring and summer, the good weather reappeared 3 weeks before the harvest to offer us grapes with a great wealth of sugars. Optimal quality and reasonable quantity, therefore, sum up this unexpected crop.
The production is meticulous and sharp. The Chardonnay is partially vinified in 300-liter oak barrels (10%), and without malolactic fermentation to preserve its acidity. The Pinot Noir vinified in thermo-conditioned vats with malolactic fermentation balances the Chardonnay with a rounder side. The low dosage of the expedition liqueur finalizes the finesse and elegance of the cuvée.
