CHAMPAGNE PREMIER CRU LOUIS BROCHET EXTRA BLANC
Since the 19th century, Domaine Louis Brochet has been located at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Ecueil. Here, the family's passion for vineyards and meticulous work on the terroir according to the purest expertise of Champagne has been handed down through four generations of winemakers / producers. The Pinot Noir d'Ecueil is the fruit of careful selection, a completely mastered experience and meticulous work over the years, which gives the Champagne Louis Brochet finesse and character.
Domaine Louis Brochet is made up of 50 plots located in Ecueil, classified as Montagne de Reims Premier Cru, and in the neighboring terroirs. Louis Brochet champagnes are produced with grapes from these 13 hectares (33.12 acres) of vineyard. The last three plots were purchased by Hélène and Louis Brochet in 2014 and 2015. They were Jacquessonne in Branscourt, La None in Tréslon and Mont Benoit in Villers aux Noeuds, for a total of 80 ares (just over 20 acres).
For this single grape variety, we select our best Chardonnays from the Les Vouagnes plots located in Ecueil and Le Mont Benoit located in Villers aux Noeuds, classified as Premier Cru of the Montagne de Reims. On these clayey-limestone soils with partial grassing we conduct committed and reasoned viticulture.
This cuvée is made 100% from 2014 wines where the good weather appeared 3 weeks before the harvest, offering the grapes a sugary richness that is rarely reached. It is vinified, in a spirit of purity, in the most natural way possible, in thermo-conditioned tanks. Freshness, lightness and finesse are highlighted here by an extra brut final dosage.
After being bottled in April 2015, this “Extra Blanc” has matured for more than 5 years in the cellar.
