CHAMPAGNE PREMIER CRU LOUIS BROCHET "HBH" 2008
Since the 19th century, Domaine Louis Brochet has been located at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, in the village of Ecueil. Here, the family's passion for vineyards and meticulous work on the terroir according to the purest expertise of Champagne has been handed down through four generations of winemakers / producers. The Pinot Noir d'Ecueil is the fruit of careful selection, a completely mastered experience and meticulous work over the years, which gives the Champagne Louis Brochet finesse and character.
Domaine Louis Brochet is made up of 50 plots located in Ecueil, classified as Montagne de Reims Premier Cru, and in the neighboring terroirs. Louis Brochet champagnes are produced with grapes from these 13 hectares (33.12 acres) of vineyard. The last three plots were purchased by Hélène and Louis Brochet in 2014 and 2015. They were Jacquessonne in Branscourt, La None in Tréslon and Mont Benoit in Villers aux Noeuds, for a total of 80 ares (just over 20 acres).
In homage to H enri B rochet-H ervieux, who created an innovative spirit for our production in 1943, they decided to prepare a special cuvée HBH 1er Cru over the years it was judged, after tasting, exceptional.
This blend brings together, in equal parts, our best plots of Pinot Noirs d'Ecueil (Les Rosets and Les Laytis), with our best exposed plots of Chardonnay (Les Vouagnes in Ecueil and Le Mont-Benoit in Villers aux Noeuds), evolving on clayey-calcareous soils.
For this cuvée an aging on strips of 12 years is observed. This slow improvement of the wine by the fine lees during fermentation in the bottle gives the HBH Premier Cru all its power, roundness, elegance and aromatic complexity. The disgorgement with a light dose of shipping liqueur (obtained from our reserve wines) completes the magic and exclusivity of HBH.
