OLTREPO' PAVESE BRUT "OLTRENERO"
The origins of Tenuta Il Bosco in Zenevredo, in the Oltrepò Pavese, date back to the Middle Ages, when the Benedictine monks gave new life to the land, after a long abandonment, making the vine flourish again. Viticulture in the Oltrepò Pavese is in fact very ancient and the first written documents date back to Pliny and Strabo who in 40 BC, passing with a Roman legion, wrote "good wine, hospitable people and very large wooden barrels". In this land also known by the name of "Old Piedmont", at the end of the nineteenth century the production of Italian sparkling wines began, thanks to the Pinot Nero grapes, a vine of excellence particularly suitable for being vinified in white and then giving rise to noble sparkling wines produced with the classic method.
hen it was purchased in 1987 by the Zonin family, the estate had only 30 hectares of vines. “Year after year the vineyard has been expanded. Planting new vineyards is a stimulating experience, the result of in-depth evaluations of the soil and the site, of studies for new clonal selections and of new training systems. It is also the beginning of a new cycle, because it means thinking about that wine, those aromas and aromas that will originate from the new vines ", says agronomic manager Roberto Lanciotti. Today, after years of investments made by the Zonin family in the area, the estate includes 152 hectares of owned vineyards. In this phase of expansion, the great wealth of noble native varieties such as the surprising Bonarda and Barbera, which reach exceptional quality standards, has been privileged. But much attention was paid to the main Oltrepò grape - Pinot Noir - which here, for over two centuries, has expressed all its class and personality.
Oltrepo 'Oltrenero is a fragrant and seductive wine, a sparkling wine of authentic class. Over two years on the lees to extract the almost voluptuous sensations of ripe currant, white flower in a context of appetizing bread crust that becomes ethereal scent from Pinot Noir, grown in the gentle Hills of Oltrepo '. The froth is of exuberant finesse and seems to open up eruptions of golden micro-pearls in the glass.
It has a pale straw yellow color typical of Pinot Noir embellished with a soft foam and a very fine, continuous and persistent perlage. The nose is very broad, recalling the crust of bread, with both mineral and floral perceptions of wisteria and elderberry. The fruity notes are typical of the black grape variety from which it originates: small red fruits, including currant and raspberry with a pleasant hint of citrus. On the palate it is decisive, fresh and with excellent flavor with sensations on the finish that reflect the bouquet.
The gustatory charm of Oltrenero Cuvèe Brut is of rare intensity, capable of marrying with a saline oyster, with a sweet crustacean, with dishes of measured elegance. It is a perfect setting for the emotion of the senses: from friendship to the joy of meeting.
