CHATEAU MARGAUX "MILLE ROSES" BORDEAUX 2019
The Château Mille Roses was built around the 18th century, but the winery was only brought back to life in 1999. When their parents died, David Favre and his wife Sophie inherited the Château and the surrounding land. After completing his oenological studies, David decided to create his own vineyard, calling it “Mille Roses - Le Mille Rose”, in honor of his mother's passion for roses. David's goal was to create aromatic, rich and smooth wines, just like roses. The vineyards of Château Mille Roses, organically produced, extend for 10 hectares between two important Château: Giscours and Cantemerle and are divided between the AOC Margaux and Haut-Médoc.
Sophie and David FAURE have been "gardening" their terroir since 1999 on a selection of vines from the villages of Macao and D'arsac in the southern Medoc. Depios 2010, have made the choice of organic farming, completely eliminating pesticides and herbicides. They grow their own vines and make wine above all to reveal their terroir without trying to disguise it and sign their wines with a personal touch of gluttony and freshness.
Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks, maceration between 3 and 5 weeks. Malolactic fermentation entirely carried out in barrique for a better blend of wood. Aging: 12 months, 100% in barrels of which 33% new (80% of French origin).
In attack, cherry notes are immediately perceived, which evolve into raspberry alcohol. Fat and volume. There are also spicy and mentholated notes. The texture is nice but the lack of fat at the moment makes it a bit difficult. This wine needs a small bottle to be appreciated (return of aromas and fat) and above all to be oxygenated before being tasted. The tannins are still very powerful and need to be rounded.
