VELTLINER ABBAZIA DI NOVACELLA 2019
Grüner Veltliner wine is the result of the work of one of the oldest cooperatives in South Tyrol. The cellar of the Abbey of Novacella has been producing wine since the 12th century and still today represents a point of reference for the upper Valle Isarco. The estate extends over 26 hectares of property and 50 hectares of small contributors. The Grüner Veltliner vineyards are located in the Varna area, in the heart of the Bressanone basin, at an altitude between 650 and 750 meters above sea level. The particularly cool climate and the stony soils of moraine matrix, composed of micascists, gneiss and quartzite, proved to be very suitable for hosting the Austrian grape variety. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, for ¾ in stainless steel and for the rest of the mass in oak barrels of 30 hectoliters. The wine ages in steel and wood for about 6 months before being bottled. It is a label that is part of the Classic line of the famous South Tyrolean winery, a range of wines that was created to highlight the varietal characteristics of the various vines, in their immediate varietal fragrance. At sight it shows a straw yellow color with bright greenish reflections. The nose is subtle and elegant, with aromas of white pulp fruit, Granny Smith apple, hints of hay, mountain herbs and a delicate spicy sensation of white pepper. The sip is delicate and clear, with pleasantly fruity aromas, herbaceous hints and a fresh finish, which returns to spicy notes. It is ideal to be enjoyed with delicate seafood dishes or with vegetable-based first courses
